Stator Replacement Guide for Mortar Sprayer

A mortar sprayer is one of the types of spraying equipment that can increase the speed of construction or building operations and provide higher quality results. This machine is capable of spraying cement or other sprayable mortars with high efficiency and creating a proper coating on various surfaces. With a mortar sprayer, you can cover various curved surfaces and corners, while also reducing excessive material waste. This machine can also be used for filling surface cracks and gaps.

Like any other industrial machine, a mortar sprayer is also composed of various components. Over time, the use of this machine leads to wear of its components, which can result in operational issues. Therefore, you should replace the components at the appropriate time to avoid operational problems while using the machine. One of the main components of a mortar sprayer is the stator.

This component can be considered one of the key parts in the pumping process. Replacing this component requires specific steps, which will be explained below.

Many of the components used in cement or mortar sprayers become worn over time due to exposure to highly abrasive mortars, leading to a loss of their efficiency. Therefore, regular and timely replacement of components is an essential requirement in professional mortar spraying. One of these components is the rubber stator of the pump.

 

Despite the use of wear-resistant compounds in the production of the rubber stator, the inner diameter of the stator gradually increases due to material abrasion.

The increase in diameter consequently leads to a reduction in outlet pressure of the mortar and a decrease in discharge flow rate. To compensate for the pressure drop, the hinge clamp bolt can be tightened.

If the pressure drop cannot be compensated by tightening the hinge clamp, the stator must be replaced.

To replace the stator, follow the steps below:

  1. First, open the mortar sprayer hopper, then turn on the manual pumping switch. With the rotation of the rotor, the stator and the clamp band can be easily removed.
  2. Loosen the clamp band bolts, remove the worn stator, and install the new stator in its place.

    Make sure the clamp band is positioned in the middle of the stator, and that the hinge of the clamp band is aligned with the stator key slot. Then slightly tighten the clamp band bolts.

  3. Apply a lubricant such as dishwashing liquid inside the stator and on the rotor for lubrication. Do not use petroleum-based products.
  4. Fit the stator and clamp band assembly onto the rotor by applying pressure. For installation, you can use gentle, indirect tapping with a wooden block. Continue this process until the outlet hopper can be mounted onto the stator.
  5. Align the stator with the machine body and fully tighten the hopper bolts.
